35 week ultrasound

Today we had a regular old black & white (medical) ultrasound. These are kinda lame now since we had that 3D ultrasound at 27 weeks BUT they are much more important to have. She had told us that we're only gonna be able to see body parts since the baby is gonna be big. She checked the heart rate which was 134 & started measuring everything. She said that the baby is about 5 lbs 7 oz with is in the 47% percentile (not exactly sure what that means but it's a good thing). I asked her how the baby was laying in my stomach & she said the head is down (yay! lets hope she stays that way) with her back to my left side & her hands/feet to my right side. She was so active during the u/s & the sonographer kept getting kicked. She kept trying to get a measurement of the baby's head but the way she was laying she couldn't so she would keep going to her abdomen. She kept measuring the bladder & kidneys then would go back to the head. Finally she got everything she needed then said hold a second I just wanna show the doctor these pictures & she'll be back. Those seconds I'm freaking out telling my husband that she found something wrong. Of course he was saying "no, they did this last time too". Well.....
Then the doctor comes in & starts looking. He then said the baby seems like she has "urine stains on the kidney" which was called hydronephrosis. He started to explain that it's when the kidney isn't completely emptying. He said that it's very minimal & it may completely clear up on it's own or she may need antibiotics when she's born. He also said that she will be seen by a kidney doctor as soon as she's born. As he saying these things my eyes are watering & I'm trying so hard to not start balling. After the doctor left the sonographer started talking to us & she saw me & was like "Awww, I know it's hard but it's very minimal & may clear up...." trying to make me feel better which of course made me start balling! Now that there is a possible problem I have another ultrasound in 2 weeks to check the kidney. I went online when I got home googling like crazy & it said that surgery is the *worst* case scenario. This will be the longest 2 weeks of my life!! I hope when I go back my little girl is all better & it cleared up on it's own.

We were told the same thing at one of our ultrasounds 4 weeks ago. My doctor wasn't worried. She told us that it often shows up on ultrasounds and it's nothing. On the rare occasion that it is something, it normally goes away before birth. Then, there the other times when surgery might be required. If your baby's got plenty of amniotic fluid, it's even less likely to be a problem.

We just had an ultrasound 2 weeks ago with the high risk dr while I was in the hospital. They're ultrasounds are meticulous and he never said a word while looking over the pictures. We also just had one on Thursday and once again, they said both babies looked awesome.

I know it's hard not to worry, but it's most likely nothing.

It's hard when you get less than perfect news, but I bet everything is going to be just fine!I know it's hard, but try not to worry about it.

It's not perfect news but it's very likely that it was something not seen clearly on the ultrasound & even if it was it can probably clear up on its own. Just try not to stress because that doesn't help your little one.
